The idea behind the exhibition is to show leather with craftsmanship so fine that it is a work of art in itself, in addition to leather used as a medium for artistic expression. The type of leather used by participating artists varies from the more common cattle and horsehide to the exotic stingray hide to kangaroo hide, the strongest leather. Braided leather will be on display as well: these intricate techniques are mostly historical and are rooted in sailor’s knots and Argentine designs.
